Glo Care

Information about what to do before and after a tanning service.

  • 1-2 Days Before

Exfoliate thoroughly: Use a non oil based exfoliator or a dry brush to remove dead skin cells. Focus on rough areas, such as, elbows, knees, ankles, and heels.

Hair Removal: Wax or shave at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid irritation and to give pores time to close.

  • Day Of

    Shower but SKIP moisturizers.

Do NOT apply: lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume, makeup.

These create barriers that can block the tanning solution.

Dress appropriately: loose, dark clothing, flip-flops / loose shoes, avoid bras or tight-fitting, clothes right after the tan.

If tanning in studio: Bring hair tie and bikini or undergarments if you don’t want to go nude and a towel for your car seat (just in case).

  • After

    WAIT TO SHOWER!

Avoid getting wet or sweating for at least 8-12 hours (or as recommended for your specific formula).

Avoid tight clothes or friction on the skin.

First Rinse: Your first shower should be a quick lukewarm rinse - NO soap or scrubbing. (You will see bronzer wash off; that is normal!). Use a gentle, fragrance free moisturizer daily to prolong the tan.

Avoid products with alcohol, retinol, or AHA/BHA (fades tans faster).

Tips and Tricks

YOU SHOULD AVOID SPRAY TANNING IF:

  • you’re currently on Accutane or have used it within 6–12 months.

  • you have open wounds, active eczema or psoriasis, or infected rashes.

  • you have sunburn or peeling skin.

  • you have severe allergies to cosmetic bronzers or DHA.

First Time:

  • Book your spray tan appointment 1-2 days before your event.

Avoid:

  • bar soaps and dove products post tan - can strip color.

  • long, hot showers - can dry out your skin.

  • rubbing with a towel - always pat your skin dry after bathing.

  • skip baths if possible - soaking can cause your tan to fade faster.

Exfoliating:

  • skip exfoliation until it’s time to fade the tan.

  • exfoliate gently after 5-7 days when you are ready for a fresh tan or to start fading the current one.

Moisturizer:

  • HYDRATION IS KEY

  • hydrated skin holds color better.

  • drink plenty of water to help your tan last longer.

  • use a tan extender or gradual tanning lotion after a few days to maintain the glo.

  • use sulfate and paraben free lotion and body wash to avoid stripping the color.

  • apply moisturizer daily (morning & night) - to keep skin nourished & smooth and tan looking fresh.

  • apply moisturizer before swimming to create a barrier and help protect your tan.
